Australia’s Priority Migration Skilled Occupation List started off with 19 occupations to help Australia’s economy with the COVID-19 recovery. Recently additional 22 new occupations have been added to the list, taking the total up to 41 occupations on the PMSOL list.
This is great news for some visa applicants! But what does this mean for you? Here’s a quick summary of everything you need to know.
The 22 Occupations added to the PMSOL list are:

✅ Civil Engineer (233211)

✅ Geotechnical Engineer (233212)
✅ Transport Engineer (233215)
✅ Mining Engineer (233611)
✅ Petroleum Engineer (233612)
✅ Surveyor (232212)
✅ Cartographer (232213)
✅ Other Spatial Scientist (232214)
✅ Medical Laboratory Scientist (234611)
✅ Orthotist / Prosthetist (251912)
✅ Multimedia Specialist (261211)
✅ Analyst Programmer (261311)
✅ Software and Applications Programmers (261399)
✅ ICT Security Specialist (262112)

Visa subclasses eligible for PMSOL list:
✅ Temporary Skill Shortage (TSS) subclass 482
✅ Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional visa subclass 494
✅ Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) subclass 186
✅ Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RSMS) subclass 187
Please note: the PMSOL list is only applicable for these visa categories.
“My occupation is on the list – will my application be prioritised?”
Occupations on the PMSOL list will be given priority only for employer sponsored visas.
Unfortunately, if you don’t have a sponsor, your application will not be given priority even if your occupation is on the PMSOL list.
“My occupation is not on the PMSOL list – can I still apply?”
If you’re applying from onshore and your occupation is not on the PMSOL list, your application will process however it may take a lot longer than pre-COVID processing times.
If you’re applying from offshore, your visa application may not be processed anytime soon because Australia’s international borders are closed unless your occupation is on the PMSOL list and you are applying for an employer sponsored visa.
