Last last year, many migrants heard news that PTE’s equivalency to IELTS may change. This will not be happening.
Immigration has indicated that it is not considering changing the English language legislation or the concordance report for now.
What does this mean for you?
The test scores that you want to aim for, for migration and points purposes, remains the same, and you don’t have to worry that they will change anytime soon!
Here’s a reminder of what the IELTS equivalent is for PTE Academic tests:
| IELTS (Academic or General) | PTE Academic | |
|---|---|---|
| Functional English | Average of at least 4.5 | Total band score of at least 30 |
| Vocational | At least 5.0 in each band | At least 36 for each of the 4 components |
| Competent English | At least 6.0 in each band | At least 50 for each of the 4 components |
| Proficient English | At least 7.0 in each band | At least 65 for each of the 4 components |
| Superior English | At least 8.0 in each band | At least 79 for each of the 4 components |
This is great news for PTE exam takers! This means you no longer have to worry about aiming for a higher score than you originally thought!
