From 1 July 2025, income thresholds for skilled visa nominations will rise by 4.6%. This annual indexation is based on the Average Weekly Ordinary Time Earnings (AWOTE) and is part of the Australian Government’s plan to keep skilled migration in line with the local job market.

What’s Changing?
From 1 July 2025, the following updated thresholds will apply:

Core Skills Income Threshold (CSIT): Increasing from AUD $73,150 to AUD $76,515 (Affects Subclass 482 – Core Skills Stream and Subclass 186 nominations)

Specialist Skills Income Threshold (SSIT): Increasing from AUD $135,000 to AUD $141,210 (Affects Subclass 482 – Specialist Skills Stream)

Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT): Increasing from AUD $73,150 to AUD $76,515 (Applies to Subclass 494 and Subclass 187 visas)
Why This Matters
The income thresholds ensure that overseas workers are not used to undercut Australian wages. They’re updated yearly to reflect what Australian workers are earning in the current economy.
Who’s Affected?

Employers: If you’re lodging a new nomination from 1 July 2025, you’ll need to meet the new income threshold or the annual market salary rate – whichever is higher.

Visa Applicants: If your nomination is submitted before 1 July 2025, the current income thresholds still apply.
