Important update for those not currently living in Queensland but are thinking of applying for state nomination. Here's our easy-to-read break down of this news.
WHEN: From 17 July 2018
WHAT: Interstate applicants are no longer able to apply for Queensland state nomination. If you are currently interstate, you must meet the requirements of either the Working in Queensland or Alumni pathway to be eligible for state nomination.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR ME?
If you are applying for Queensland nomination while living outside of the state, you will need to have previously worked or studied in Queensland according to the requirements of the relevant streams (listed below).
A. The 'Working in Queensland' pathway requires you to have:
an occupation on the QSOL 'Working in Queensland' list
been working full-time in Queensland (post-graduate) for the last 6 months
an ongoing job offer for at least 12 months from a Queensland employer
B. The 'Alumni' pathway is specifically for Masters' and PHD graduates.
1. For Masters' graduates, you need to have:
an occupation on the QSOL Masters Graduate List
have completed 100% of your Masters degree (must be related to your occupation) at a Queensland-based institution
have graduated in the last 2 years
an ongoing job offer for at least 12 months from a Queensland employer
a job offer in your nominated occupation/in a closely related occupation
2. For PHD graduates, you need to have:
any occupation on either the Short-Term or Medium-Long Term Skilled Occupation List for 189/190/489 occupations
have completed 100% of your PHD degree at a Queensland-based institution
have graduated in the last 2 years
job offer is not needed unless otherwise stated
