[NEWS] More Changes to Skilled Migration Coming 1st July, 2017

Australian Immigration News

Several changes are coming into effect 1 July, 2017. Given the scale of recent changes, we would recommend lodging skilled migration visa applications before 1 July where possible.

Here is a summary of the key changes affecting you:

1. Visa application fees increasing

For the first time, visa application fees will be indexed every year in line with inflation. 189, 489 and 190 visas will increase from $3600 to $3670, 485 will increase from $1470 to $1500.

2. Occupation lists likely to be reviewed again

STSOL and MLTSSL are likely to change once again, pending cross-Department reviews. If your occupation has been flagged for removal, whilst this doesn't mean that they will necessarily be removed, where possible, we would recommend that you lodge your application before 1 July.

3. Maximum age reduced

For 186 Employer-Sponsored Direct Entry Stream, maximum age will be reduced to 45 from 50. The maximum age for the Skilled Independent Subclass 189 will be reduced from 49 to 44
