Tony:
Hi everyone, Tony here from Skylark Migration. I want to talk to you guys today about state nomination.
Tony:
Let's talk about Queensland state nomination. So with Queensland you can get nomination under four sets of criteria.
So the first one would be if you are doing it as a Queensland graduate that is you've graduated from a Queensland institution. So if you've completed a PhD, that's one way to get nomination in Queensland. Otherwise, if you've done a master's degree, then you can get 190 nomination if you've studied in particular stem fields and you are also working in your nominated occupation. If you are living in a regional area of Queensland and you don't need to have studied in those stem fields where you still need to be working in your nominated occupation for the 491 nomination. And finally, if you've studied a bachelor's degree, then it's also possible to get 491 nomination, but you need to be living in regional Queensland and then you also need to have achieved a particular mark for your grade point average. So that's the graduate stream of Queensland nomination.
Then, if you are living and working in Queensland, then that's another way to get nomination. So essentially you need to be working on a nominated occupation full time for at least 6 months, and you also need to make sure that you score 80 points on the points test.
Thirdly, you've got the ability to get nomination if you are offshore. So if you're not living in Australia, then you can apply for state nomination. However, you do need 80 points like with the working stream. And also your occupation needs to be on the particular occupational list that Queensland has for offshore nominations.
Finally, the last way you can get nomination in Queensland is quite a unique pathway that they've only gone in Queensland. They call the small business owners stream. So with this particular stream, you need to purchase a business in regional Queensland for $100,000. Or, if the business is a startup, then it needs to be profitable and it needs to have a turnover at least of $200,000. There are definitely more requirements. For example, you can't be purchased from a family member and things like that. So just make sure you go on the website to look at the full requirements if you are interested in this pathway.
Really I think that applies to all of the streams here. This is a very simplified way to summarize Queensland state nomination. Otherwise, if you're looking at all the details, it can be fairly complex. So just make sure you understand, firstly, that it does fit into your strategy, then go onto the website so you can see the minor details for your eligibility.
